Whether you’re a full-time CrossFit coach or a Sunday-morning yoga teacher, you have a passion that we share.
As a group of fitness instructors and enthusiasts, we understand the difficulties specific to this industry. Low pay, sudden loss of income and continued uncertainty were already an issue before the pandemic. We also felt the huge jolt from the abrupt loss of connection from our clients when the lockdown restrictions came into place.
Mark McDermott, a Les Mills fitness instructor and tech entrepreneur (geek), rounded up a team of fitness-mad volunteers to pull together the first prototype of the GetMeFit platform. This got traction and now George Northen (an FD and exercise junkie) and Jane Hart (a marketeer and personal trainer) are setting up the company as a social venture - so a percentage of the profit will be reinvested back to support independent instructors.
We can see that even with gyms starting to open again, the fitness industry has changed forever. Virtual classes will always have a place, for many clients it’s the perfect format to fit in a training schedule around busy lives. Independent instructors will also need direct access to their clients, to manage their own schedules and to future-proof their livelihoods. The platform can manage all of this simply and securely.
Our focus is on live interactive classes (in-person or online). We know that being accountable to an instructor in this way, clients are much more likely to turn up and maintain a consistent exercise programme. It seems like a time for positive change
